This hike leads you to summits of old volcano Merbabu and most active Indonesian volcano, Merapi.Merbabu has two popular: peak Kenteng Songo 3142 m alt and Pregodalem which is also well known as peak Syarif 3119 m alt. This trekking lead you to double summits of Merbabu. Trekking route via village Dakan, and the descent will be made via the same trekking trail heads for hiking Base Camp. One night overnight by tent below elevation 3000 m alt on our first night.During your hiking days,you have rare chance to experience fresh air and sunset on volcano Merbabu as well as sunrise on summit of the volcano with background of fantastic "closed up view" of volcano Merapi, as well as opportunity to catch Merapi's fantastic sunrise and witness the latest change of the peak zone environment of Merapi after latest large explosive eruption 2010.
DAY 1:Yogyakarta-Dakan 1700 m-Krego 2400 m.
DAY 2:Krego - Syarif/ Pregodale 3119m - Kenteng Songo 3142 - Dakan - Selo 1550 m.
Then traversing the rock face heads for the highest peak of volcano Merbabu, locally called Kenteng Songo.Upon reaching the peak, a stunning view awaits. Below us on southern side of the volcano is "closed up view" of full body structure of volcano Merapi, while in the distance is twin volcano Sumbing - Sundoro, and on the northern side is sweeping magical view of Ungaran and Telomoyo.After sight seeing on summit, we then descent back heads for the second summit.
Have breakfast on the second summit, then proceed the descent heads for Base Camp.On the way descent, stop over and walk down to visit the old crater(depend on the weather at the time).Lunch at Basecamp before transferring to Selo.Transfer 2 hours.Normal actual hike 6 - 7 hours.Overnight by Basecamp / local homestay of Selo.(B,L,D)
DAY 3:Selo-Merapi -Selo-Yogyakarta.
