The trek commences at hidden sub village on foothill of Turgo at southern slope of volcano Merapi, about 1 hour drive from Yogyakarta city.Before commencing the trek, we stop by Base Camp which is actually a local native house.Introduce you to Base Camp owner and make arrival report before beginning the trek.
Our trek leads us through countryside heads for border of tropical forest, then hike steeper upward hiking trail heads for top of the hill.We pass through tropical forest with an array of flora and fauna survived from impact of Merapi's latest eruption 2010.
To reach top hill, we enter to channel which it's exit gate heads for top hill.This channel was constructed by Japanese army during colonialism era.We experience fresh air and tranquility of southern slope of volcano Merapi.After 1 to 2 hour/s of hike, we then reach top hill where we will rest and take in the "closed up view" of volcano Merapi's summit.
After sight seeing on top hill, we then trek down back heads for our Base Camp through tropical forest of Merapi.Time to explore village is available before transferring you by private ac car to Kinahrejo and Kaliadem where you have chance to witness the destructive power of volcano Merapi.
