HIKING - TREKING - CLIMBING TRIP MERAPI
We commence the trip from Yogyakarta city in late afternoon via Blabak. There's light rain below elevation 1000 m, as we move higher till 1200 m the rain was not existed. We did stopover at Ketep Pass before proceeding to trekking Basecamp at last village of Selo. Arrive at basecamp in the dark night, arrange
logistic at Selo and meet our partners - friends in the area for gathering some related information of Merapi.
We have two hours to sleep at basecamp before commencing the hike in the dark early morning 01:30 am.There's no significant change of the hiking - trekking routes, but some shelters built already on some resting points. One of them was on right side of entrance gate, while another ones was around pos I. Hiking -trekking route from basecamp to memorium plateau was the same as pasca eruption 2010.
There's also warning board at Pasar Bubra area, exactly on memorium plateau.Pasar Bubrah is the rest of old crater of Merapi, wide area, and some large rock, also memoriam plateau on higher point where hikers -visitors recently stop and take break while taking in sheer view of Merapi volcanic zone,as well as below wide old crater Pasar Bubrah, also wait for sunrise.Route from this point to higher crater rim was the same as pasca eruption 2010.
RUBBISH/GARBAGE ALONG HIKING - TREKKING ROUTE MERAPI
There'r little rubbish / garbage encountered along hiking - trekking route on our way down, most of them were plastic and little white paper (some of them were tissue). We collected them along the way down, so that we had to pause our pace many time and do little bow to collect them one by one, put them in inside of our rubbish pack and carried down to New Selo. At New Selo there were many garbage sites to store the garbage, but the largest one was beside of the highest building, while other smaller garbage cans/bins were in front of stalls.
