Volcano Merbabu has strategic location for viewing other volcanoes of Central Java, Indonesia, since it stand on mid of among other volcanoes of Central Java. Has some peaks, but popular ones are Kenteng Songo and Syarif. Previously, peak Syarif was locally named as peak Pregodalem, so at this page, the peak Syarif and Pregodalem are the same peak.This Merbabu trekking trip lead you hike up those two popular peaks of Merbabu to see fantastic morning view of surrounding volcanoes of Central Java covering "closed up view" of Merapi, also catch momentum of sunrise.You have chance to walk down further on the way descent to get closer look of Merbabu old crater.This trekking trip is physically demanding to complete 5, 5 hours hike on final day of hike. Trekking guests are suggested to have at least extra 1 night for day rest at Yogyakarta ( homestay or hotel ) prior to trekking trip commencement. Pick up and drop off service at Yogyakarta, but also possible at around Borobudur Magelang area.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1 /  Leave Yogyakarta  for Kedakan ( +-1725 m ASL) , and hike to Merbabu Knoll ( +- 2775 m ASL) .Overnight by tent.Transfer by private car for actual drive approx 2,5 hours. Actual hike approx 4 hours.(L,D)

Day 2 /  Summit push Merbabu Peak Pregodalem (+-3119 m ASL), then Merbabu Peak K.Songo (-+3142 m ASL). Down back to Kedakan, en route visit old crater base. Transfer by private car for actual drive approx 2,5 hours. Actual hike approx 5,5 hours. (B,L)
